Delay Cord Clamping & Banking

Parents often ask if they can bank and do delay cord clamping. The short answer is - yes! But we let parents know it's ultimately a personal decision that should be discussed with their healthcare provider.

Below are points to consider for your discussion as well as some resources on the topic:

  • Collection can be done with delayed cord clamping
  • Timing of when to clamp is the parent and healthcare provider's decision
  • We alert parents if collected sample size does not meet our recommended minimum to store
  • Parents can choose to continue to store the stem cells or cancel
  • Cord tissue collection is not impacted by delayed clamping
