Our exclusive bag took over two years to create and is designed to reduce the risk of product mix-up and contamination from the time of collection until the unit is needed for transplant. ViaCord was the first company to stand behind its service with a 100% Quality Product Guarantee. The guarantee states that if your child’s cord blood unit is used in a new stem cell transplant and fails to engraft (produce healthy, new cells) we will pay $25,000 to defray the cost of procurement of an alternative stem cell source if medically indicated.
Private courier service
ViaCord takes care of all the logistics of picking up your baby's cord blood from your hospital room. We only use private couriers who specialize in handling biopharmaceutical materials - we wouldn't risk your baby's cord blood or our reputation with anything else. You will be notified by phone once your baby's cord blood arrives at our laboratory.
Comprehensive follow-up and Certificate of Cryopreservation
Upon receipt of your baby's cord blood unit, our lab will conduct tests to provide an assessment of the total volume collected and the concentration of stem cells, as well as check for bacterial and fungal contamination. In addition, the mother's blood samples will be tested for infectious diseases. You will also receive a personalized Certificate of Cryopreservation.
Long term storage
All processing is done at ViaCord's state-of-the-art facility within a closed system that is designed to prevent airborne contamination. Processing your baby's cord blood removes unnecessary plasma and red blood cells and transfers your unit into a transplant-ready cryobag. After processing, your baby's cord blood unit is cryopreserved and stored at ≤170º Celsius.
