Healing through siblings

Research shows transplant outcomes are better with related cord blood donor cells compared with unrelated cord blood or bone marrow donor cells.45

Today, sibling cord blood has been used in treatment for a number of diseases:

               Thalassemia Major

               Sickle Cell

                Leukemia

ViaCord has facilitated more sibling transplants than any other family cord blood company, with the hope of improving lives and providing the child in need with a bright and health future.

If you have a patient in need...

ViaCord created a directed donor program to help those families with the greatest need, regardless of their ability to pay for cord blood collection.  If a child has an established diagnosis of a disease for which a cord blood transplant is indicated as treatment, and the mother of that child is expecting, the family may qualify for the Sibling Connection program. Click here to view a list of eligible disorders.

Simply direct the patient to give us a called on our dedicated Sibling Connection Program toll free number: 800-998-4226. We’ll review the program with the patient and determine if they meet of other eligibility requirements.

In the case a family does qualify a  medical referral form  will need to be completed.

Joining forces to bring hope to families.

When Children's Hospital Oakland Research Institute (CHORI) was seeking a partner to help families with children who could benefit from a cord blood stem cell transplant, they turned to ViaCord. Dr. Betram H. Lubin, Director of Medical Research at CHORI said of the partner selection:

"After thorough due diligence in assessing the field, I am confident that ViaCord processes cells in a high quality manner suitable for transplant
".
