Important Information for ViaCord Families
Duke University Medical Center is currently enrolling patients, diagnosed with cerebral palsy, in a study where the patient’s own cord blood is infused with the hope of treating the disorder.
This is an early experimental study and the outcomes are yet to be determined. However, we want to ensure ViaCord Families are provided with the latest information on new potential therapeutic uses of cord blood stem cells.
To be considered for inclusion in this study the following criteria must be met:
- Your child must have a confirmed diagnosis of cerebral palsy
- Your child must use his or her own cord blood (i.e. autologous use only)
- Must be able to travel to Duke University Medical Center
Please also note that your child will be followed for two years post-infusion and as with any treatment, there is no guarantee of results.
Should this be an option you wish to evaluate for your child, please complete and submit the following form.
